Title of Bronze shown below:  THE GATHERING

Patricia Crane has spend over 3 decades creating horse sculptures. Her addiction to this particular art form began at the age of three and has continued  unabated through the years. She has worked mainly in bronze, but her work is inclusive of many media including porcelain, Raku, hand-painted pewter and resin. The menu on the homepage, or links in the Gallery can be used to view many of her works including life size commissions for installation at the front doors of museums at the Kentucky Horse Park. Patricia's work is in many public and private collections world wide and her reputation as a sculptor is as highly regarded as the individual works themselves.

The benchmark of Crane's horse sculptures is a combination of anatomical exactness (to the point where each horse if it were a living horse possesses the correct and proper functioning anatomy to move as a real horse would move), with an elegance of form and a 'presence' that allows the viewer to feel as though they are indeed experiencing a relationship with a real horse. Patricia is best known for her true to character portraits, although her more general sculptures often capture the very essence of the breed characteristics horse breeders strive to achieve in each generation of new foals.

The horse sculptures pictured below can stand alone, each as a complete and delightful bronze, yet they were designed as one compositional piece with the stallion and two broodmares inter-relating as a whole. Viewed from all angles, the sculpture is true to life and scale, not to mention the personality of each horse.

Museum Quality Bronze Edition of 12

The sculpture is 15.5 inches tall x 24 inches long, plus walnut base

"As if he told the steps", the stallion bows his neck, his potent energy
ready to erupt for the slightest reason, his tail a banner on the air.

(This stallion is part of a larger compositional sculpture consisting of
two brood-mares and one foal, titled "The Gathering". For images of
bronzes included in The Gathering, consult the artist.)
